Welcome event for the students from Sichuan University
On July 27, the China Competence Center at Clausthal University of Technology welcomed students from China for the first time to the German-language Bachelor's degree course in Electrical Engineering (double degree with Sichuan University), who will be studying at Clausthal University of Technology from the coming winter semester. The event provided important information and orientation for the students who will soon be starting their studies in Germany.
The welcome ceremony began with a warm speech by Professor Rembe from the Chair of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at Clausthal University of Technology. He introduced the new students to the research focus of the department and encouraged them to take the initiative and continuously expand their knowledge.
Professor Hou Zhengmeng, Head of the China Competence Center, then gave his welcome speech. He emphasized that the first step of studying abroad is to move from traditional to international thinking. He encouraged students not only to focus on subject knowledge, but also to broaden their horizons and adopt a new perspective.
Afterwards, student assistants Yang Yunhao and Pan Qinling informed the attendees in detail about living and studying in Clausthal. They gave practical tips and advice on topics such as registering with the residents' registration office, opening a bank account, waste separation, public transport, medical care, language acquisition, visa extension and so on. The exchange gave the students a detailed first impression of their future everyday life and their studies in Germany.
Afterwards, the students took the opportunity to ask any questions they had, which were then answered patiently and in detail. This question-and-answer session gave the students the confidence they needed and helped them to prepare for the upcoming start of their studies in Germany.
The ceremony had a convivial and friendly atmosphere. Clausthal University of Technology wishes the students from Sichuan University a fulfilling and enjoyable time studying in Germany.
