Lifeng Zhang is male, professor and PhD supervisor. He was accepted into the national talent program in 2014 and received the National Outstanding Young Scientist Fund in 2017.
He has been the President of North China University of Technology since January 2022. From September 2019 to January 2022, he was Vice President of Yanshan University. From January 2012 to September 2019, he was professor, doctoral supervisor and dean of the Faculty of Metallurgy and Ecological Engineering at the University of Science and Technology Beijing. From August 2011 to December 2011, he was a tenured associate professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology in the USA. From December 2007 to August 2011 he served there as Assistant Professor. From October 2005 to December 2007 he was Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. From October 2004 to October 2005, he was a Research Scientist in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. From March 2001 to September 2004 he was a Research Associate there. From August 2000 to February 2001, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Metallurgy at the Clausthal University of Technology in Germany. From August 1998 to July 2000, he was a JSPS Research Fellow for Foreigners at the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Metallurgy, Tohoku University in Japan. From July 1993 to March 1998, he studied directly for a doctoral degree in steel metallurgy at the Department of Metallurgy, University of Science and Technology Beijing. He completed his bachelor's degree in steel metallurgy and materials engineering at Chongqing University from September 1989 to July 1993.
His main research areas and directions are:
1. high quality steel and non-metallic inclusions in steel.
2. simulation and data analysis of metallurgical processes.
