Du Zhimin, female, is a professor and doctoral supervisor. She was born in Xi'an, Shanxi, in September 1953 and graduated from the Southwest Petroleum Institute in 1978 with a degree in petroleum production engineering. From 1985 to 1988, she studied at Clausthal University of Technology in Germany. She was president of Southwest Petroleum University and specialized in teaching and research on oil and gas field development, numerical simulation of petroleum and modern reservoir management. Since the Eighth Five-Year Plan, she has led and implemented more than 50 research and education reform projects. She has received a national first-class teaching award, a second-class teaching award, a special education reform award from China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) once, a national second-class science and technology progress award, a Sichuan Provincial first-class science and technology progress award, and first and second-class science and technology progress awards from CNPC and China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec) nine times in total. She has published over 70 scientific papers in leading national journals and international conferences, written a textbook and translated two books. She enjoys a special government allowance from the State Council, is a leading academic and technical figure in Sichuan with outstanding contributions and an excellent expert; vice chairman of the Sichuan Petroleum Society and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
