Delegation from Henan Province visits Clausthal University of Technology
On Monday, April 17, 2023, a high-ranking, nine-member delegation led by SUN Shougang, Deputy Premier of the Chinese province of Henan, visited Clausthal University of Technology (EST and Battery Test Center in Goslar), the Energy Research Center of Lower Saxony and the Heinrich Hertz Institute - Fraunhofer HHI. Among others, the deputy directors-general Ms. TANG Xingli (for development and reform), LI Bingbing (for foreign affairs), WANG Jun (for trade relations) and the administrator of the economic zone of the airport of the provincial capital Zhengzhou, GUO Peng, were also present.
The delegation from the central-eastern province was welcomed at the Fraunhofer Institute's branch office on the Goslar Energy Campus by Prof. Michael Zhengmeng Hou, China Representative and Head of the China Competence Center at Clausthal University of Technology, by Prof. Thomas Hanschke, Lower Saxony State Representative for University Cooperation between Lower Saxony and China, and by Prof. Wolfgang Schade, Head of the Energy Storage Technologies Research Center and Battery Test Center at Clausthal University of Technology. Thomas Hanschke, Lower Saxony State Representative for University Cooperation between Lower Saxony and China, and Prof. Wolfgang Schade, Head of the Energy Storage Technologies Research Center and Battery Test Center at Clausthal University of Technology and Head of the Fiber Optic Sensor Systems Department at the Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications, Heinrich Hertz Institute.
In his welcoming address, Prof. Hanschke said that the meeting was impressive proof of the continuing excellent scientific and economic relations between China and Germany, given the often polarizing image of China. The subsequent presentation of the Energy Research Center and the research work at the Battery Test Center by Prof. Schade visibly impressed the delegation. As the province of Henan has a very good research infrastructure in the field of renewable energies and the demand for electric cars is high, Mr. SUN will very much welcome and support an expansion of the cooperation between the province and Lower Saxony. He therefore cordially invited all those involved to discuss possibilities for cooperation in detail on site and to gain an impression of the situation. They were delighted with this offer and agreed to stay in contact.
As a sign of mutual appreciation, small gifts - including St. Barbara - were then exchanged. Before continuing on to the Hanover Trade Fair at midday, the Chinese guests used their stay to visit the Imperial Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Siemens House and the historic old town of Goslar.
